A track keeper’s cottage instead of a station house

Valstad opened on 16 November 1879 as a minor station with a siding. No dedicated station house was built: the name sign was on the track keeper’s cottage beside the road crossing. Routing the railway across the estate helped trains negotiate the climb from Verkebäck. [3]
