Köping has today’s Mälar Line station and an older railway heritage from the narrow-gauge line towards Uttersberg and Riddarhyttan. [1] [2] [3] [4]
KUJ’s museum society has its exhibition in the railway’s old station building in Köping and preserves railway vehicles in the adjacent engine shed. Contact the society before visiting. [1]
The Köping–Uttersberg railway was built to carry goods from the ironworks of the Hedströmsdalen valley to Köping harbour. Its unusual track gauge of 1093 millimetres distinguished it from the standard-gauge railway. [2]
